EXECUTIVE COACHING
Leading companies and organizations are discovering what the world's top athletes have known for decades----one-on-one executive coaching improves performance.
More than half (57%) of Fortune 500's Most Admired Companies use 1-1 coaching and 25 to 40% of the entire list of Fortune 500 Companies use executive coaches, according to the Hay Group (a global management consulting firm that works with leaders to transform strategy into reality). These leading companies use coaching as leadership development for executives and talented up-and-comers. A recent study of executive coaching in a Fortune 500 firm by MetrixGlobal reported a 529% return on investment and significant intangible benefits to the business. In the Fortune article, "Executive Coaching--With Returns a CFO Could Love", executives provided a conservative estimate in monetary payoff from coaching six times what the coaching had cost their companies. The CEO of one Fortune 100 company stated, "Even if executive coaching costs $50K, it's barely a rounding error to invest in the coaching of a key player who has responsibility for millions of dollars and for key human resources."
How does Executive Coaching help?
Executive coaching helps executives and organizations effectively respond to change or transition, and will challenge complacency. It will improve executive adjustment to new role(s), expanded responsibilities and organizational responsiveness. Executive coaching will enhance leadership development, build competency, support development of high potential talent and aid in succession planning. Executive coaches will act as a sounding board on strategic matters and organizational dynamics, improve team interactions and help executives balance professional/personal goals.
Executive coaches may be brought in by the company or organization's Board of Directors, by investors, or by the executives themselves. They may also be recommended by executive recruiters to support incoming, outgoing or transitional executives or help illuminate organizational challenges. Executive coaching is often a triadic relationship with goals/expectations determined by each of the 3 participants: the coach, the client and the sponsoring company/organization. Increasingly companies and organizations are taking the view that providing executive coaching is like having insurance for their executives--- it improves performance, reduces burnout and helps the organization support its greatest asset, its people!

The success of executive coaching requires a good fit between the coach and the executive, allowing the coach to fully interact and function as Facilitator-Advisor-Mentor-Challenger. As a trusted advisor, it is critical that the Executive Coach has the proper skills, training, experience and coaching credentials.
